Bakuli Shelter - 3 cm

The exotic Bakuli Shelters are actually the fruit pod of an Indian tree. Lagerstroemia parviflora grows mainly in the mixed forests of India and grows over 30 meters high. The fruit clusters, about 3 cm long, are first closed and green, but then open and turn brown when the seeds ripen. Their hard outer shell is somewhat reminiscent of walnuts. The inside is woody.

Bakuli Shelters release small amounts of tannins and flavonoids into the aquarium water over a long period of time, which is very good for the mucous membranes of fish and shrimp, crayfish and other invertebrates in the aquarium. The aquarium water becomes very slightly acidified, bacteria and other disease-causing germs can be inhibited, and the water acquires an attractive light amber tone that beautifully highlights the colors of your aquarium animals and the plants in your aquarium.
