Many aquarists mistakenly believe that their tap water is never chlorinated. But beware: as soon as waterworks work on the tap/pipe system, it is subsequently heavily chlorinated for disinfection. And even if chlorine is not added to the tap water, disinfecting substitutes are often added to make the water low-germ for drinking.
