aus über 3.000 Bewertungen »As a predecessor of sea almond leaves, walnut leaves are old hands in aquaristics and are highly valued, especially because of their broad spectrum of action. And since brown and green leaves differ in their concentration, so we also offer the green walnut leaves in the store. Even in naturopathy, the walnut was often used and so it is not surprising that it was already popular in ancient times. Our walnut leaves come from healthy Black Forest walnut trees that are far from industry and major roads and were collected by hand.
The gently air-dried walnut leaves are carefully prepared so that they can be used in the aquarium without hesitation. Especially their minor disinfecting effect and mild antibiosis can be used prophylactically against oodinium, fungal infections and also spawning fungus. Especially for egg-laying fish, the "chemical hammer" can be replaced here by this natural product. The slightly acidifying and stabilizing effect is particularly noticeable in the pH value. The abundance of humic substances, flavonoids and tannic acids also has a beneficial effect on water quality and the well-being of the aquarium animals being kept. The microfauna is also positively promoted by walnut leaves - the decomposing leaves are mainly nibbled off by invertebrates such as dwarf shrimps, dwarf crabs and snails, but also by wood-eating loricariid catfish, making them ideal as permanent food.
Especially in the beginning the leaves can float up in the aquarium. If you weigh them down with aquarium decorations, for example, they can be fixed to the aquarium floor. However, scalding with hot water also helps them to sink faster and breaks up the cell structure so that the active ingredients are more quickly accessible to the animals.
Use:
2 - 4 leaves per 15-25 liters of tank volume. The initially floating leaves will sink to the bottom after a few days, where they can be left until completely decomposed. Leaves that have not decomposed can be removed after a few days.
