Sea almond leaves have a proven effect against bacteria and fungi and prevent inflammation. Effective here are the tannins and humins contained in the leaves. They also have a mild astringent (astringent) effect and have a nourishing effect on the mucous membranes.
Sea almond leaves also serve as a food source for shrimps, crabs, crayfish and snails. Biofilms are grazed by the leaves and after some time in the aquarium, the leaves are soft enough for the tissue to be eaten. Until that happens, the leaf provides hiding places for them, and it is a very natural decorative element.
Simply place the catappa leaf in the aquarium. Its effect lasts for 1-3 weeks. After that, it can remain in the aquarium or be replaced. Sea almond leaves give the water a light amber tone as long as their effect lasts. However, the water does not become cloudy.
One leaf (approx. 17 cm long) is sufficient for 15-30 l.
