Foliage should be in every invertebrate aquarium whenever possible. Similar to the habitat of cultivated crawlers, foliage often provides much of the underwater structure. Birch leaves are particularly well suited for this purpose. In addition to a biofilm of beneficial microorganisms that forms on the leaves and is extensively nibbled by your pets, the foliage also has other positive properties. Birch leaves are especially popular in natural medicine.

They contain flavone glycosides, saponins and essential oils, as well as tannins, which have a particularly beneficial effect on the immune system and health. Likewise, their high vitamin C content is highly appreciated. Also, due to their mild antibacterial effect, birch leaves can be used preventively, but also to treat against fungal infections. In addition, they are perfect as a food supplement and are highly prized by both invertebrates and wood-eating catfish. Our birch leaves are collected by hand and gently air dried.

The birch leaves float up in the aquarium at first, but can be clamped between decorations or scalded with hot water. This also breaks down the cell structure, making them more readily available and more likely to be eaten.

Use:
2 - 3 leaves per 15-25 liters of tank volume. To achieve a fungicidal effect, also significantly more. The initially floating leaves sink to the bottom after a few days, where they can be left until completely decomposed. Leaves that have not decomposed can be removed after a few days.
