ADA - Softenizer-50

The ADA Softenizer is a device from Aqua Design Amano for water softening of the aquarium water during operation. The elegantly shaped glass ADA Softenizer is available in three sizes : the Softenizer 20 is suitable for aquariums up to 60 cm in length or for aquariums with soft water, the Softenizer 50 for aquariums from 60-90 cm in length or for medium-hard water and the Softenizer 300 for aquariums from 90 cm edge length or for aquariums with hard water.

With transparent suction cups the ADA Softenizer isfixed in the aquarium and functions here as part of the filter outlet. During operation, the water coming from the filter is thuscontinuously softened by the exchange resin it contains. The Softenizer from Aqua Design Amano is installed in the filter circuit on the outlet side of the external filter using the enclosed accessories (transparent silicone hose, one-way valve, glass tube). Please be sure to read the instructions for use!

The enclosed one-way valve can be used to regulate the flow rate of the aquarium water through the Softenizer. The ion exchange resin in the Aqua Design Amano Softenizer is thus stirred up by thewater flowing through   and can thus work very effectively. Important: The flow rate is always selected so that the Ion Exchange Resin is not flushed out of the ADA Softenizer.

40 ml of ADA Ion Exchange Resin will lower the water hardness in 100 liters of water by about 1 degree dH. Therefore, please choose a correspondingly larger Softenizer for hard water! For the ADA Softenizer 20 you need 20 ml of the ADA Ion Exchange Resin, for the Softenizer 50 you need 50 ml and for the Softenzier 300 the whole 250 ml of the exchange resin.

If the effect of the ion exchange resin ADA Ion Exchange Resin decreases with time - this can be easily checked with the Pack Checker TH - you can easily regenerate the ion exchange resin yourself. To regenerate   the Ion Exchange Resin, prepare a saturated salt solution with common salt (NaCl): Table salt without further additives such as iodine or fluoride is added to water until the solution is saturated, i.e. until no more salt dissolves. Then pour the resin to be regenerated into the salt solution. Let the mixture sit for about an hour, stirring occasionally. Then pour off the salt water and rinse the resin thoroughly several times with soft and clean water .

If the surface of the resin granules is cracked and the granules appear to have dried out, you will need toreplace the ADA Ion Exchange Resin . Refill packs of the resin are of course available in our online store.
