ADA - pH Kit

The ADA pH Kit from Aqua Design Amano is a test reagent that can be used to accurately determine the pH value of the water in the freshwater aquarium. The test is suitable both as a refill for the glass CO2 continuous test ADA Drop Checker and as a water test without Drop Checker.

To refill the ADA Drop Checker, turn it over and add a drop from the reagent bottle of the ADA pH Kit into the opening. Then turn the ADA Drop Checker over again so that the drop flows into the sphere. Then turn the Drop Checker over again and then add aquarium water until the sphere is half full. Carefully turn it back again and you're done. If the liquid immediately turns yellow, it means that the aquarium water is very acidic. Then no reasonable measurement is possible - please raise the pH value in the aquarium water first.

The liquid in the ADA Drop Checker must never be in direct contact with the aquarium water. The CO2 to be measured diffuses through the air bubble in the Drop Checker into the test liquid and changes the pH value there. Blue indicates too little, yellow too much CO2 in the aquarium water, green indicates an optimal CO2 value between 20 and 30 mg/l. The ADA pH Kit comes with a color chart that breaks this down very clearly.

The pH kit from Aqua Design Amano can also be used to test the pH value in the aquarium water without a drop checker. Detailed instructions are included with the ADA pH Kit, as well as a measuring cup and a color chart that shows the measured pH of the aquarium water.

The pH indicates whether the water in the aquascape is acidic, neutral or alkaline. It is important to know the pH of the water in the aquascape or aquarium for species-appropriate keeping of aquarium animals and also amazingly many aquarium plants. A pH test is especially important when changing the water or when you want to introduce new aquarium animals .
