ADA - CO2 Drop Checker

The elegantly curved, easy-to-read ADA Drop Checker continuous CO2 test from Aqua Design Amano indicates by a color change whether a suitable amount of CO2 is dissolved in the aquarium water. Too little CO2 is ineffective, and plants will not grow well. Too much CO2, on the other hand, can cause respiratory distress to aquarium inhabitants and should be avoided at all costs.

The glass handmade ADA Drop Checker  serves as a CO2 continuous test in the aquarium. For this purpose, the sphere is first filled with test liquid. For this purpose, simply turn the ADA Drop Checker upside down and put a drop of the enclosed test liquid ADA Nature Aquarium pH into the opening. Turn so that the drop can flow into the sphere. Then add as much aquarium water until the ball of the ADA Drop Checker is half full. Carefully turn back so that the test reagent stays where it belongs. If the aquarium water is very acidic, the liquid will turn yellow directly - this should not be the case. Then the pH value in the aquarium water must first be raised by a water change and suitable measures.

The Drop Checker is then attached to the glass on the inside of the aquarium with its suction cup. Important: The liquid is never in direct contact with the aquarium water, but through an air bubble located in the ADA Drop Checker. The air diffuses CO2 from the aquarium water into the test reagent, causing the liquid to change color. Blue stands for too little, green for optimal and yellow for too much CO2 in the aquarium water. The enclosed color chart breaks this down again very clearly.

This process naturally takes a while, so that the CO2 permanent test only indicates the correct amount of CO2 at intervals of two to three hours. You should therefore take your time when fine-tuning the pressure reducer so that the CO2 can dissolve in the test. The recommended number of bubbles is set, then you wait two to three hours, read the continuous test and can then readjust again.

The test fluid for the CO2 continuous test ADA Drop Checker should be renewed from time to time so that it always displays reliably.
